High Chancellor will resign upon successor’s appointment

ROSEWOOD – Michael von Friedeck, Überstadt’s top judge, says he will resign as High Chancellor upon the selection of his successor.

Von Friedeck, King Adam’s father and Vice Admiral in His Majesty’s Navy, became economy minister in December, and Adam believes it proper that the newest member of the government have a seat in Parliament. Under Überstadti law, all citizens except the High Chancellor, the arbiter of constitutional questions, are members of the legislature.

Vacancies in the Überstadti judiciary are filled with appointments made by the body of remaining judges. As the sole Crown Court judge, the Baroness Rosewood will be responsible for appointing her husband’s successor in the High Chancery.

Adam has openly favored the appointment of Dominique Montour, a former government minister, to the kingdom’s top bench.
